Dr. Abdo took excellent care of my husband after a work related injury in which he fell from a roof, landing on his right arm. We felt that he was very lucky to walk away with just a "sprain" of the wrist. Unfortunately, what appeared to be a "sprain" was quickly diagnosed by Dr. Abdo as a navicular fracture. Dr. Abdo's attention to detail and thorough examination resulted in the undelayed proper treatment for this type of fracture, and ultimately an excellent outcome with my husband returning to full duty work without restriction or limitation within weeks.

Since that time I have been happy to refer several family members and friends to Dr. Abdo. I have always found him to be caring and compassionate.

Most importantly, I TRUST Dr. Abdo. Being able to trust your physician is so much more important than any other trait or characteristic that you may encounter in a doctor. I would whole-heartedly and without reservation recommend Dr. Abdo for all of your orthopaedic needs.

Patient Beware! After 30 plus years dealing with the public I feel I am pretty good at evaluating first impressions. My first and only meeting with Richard V. Abdo, M.D. was on February 20, 2018 regarding pain in my right knee. I found him to be brash, arrogant, dictatorial and lacking compassion for his patient. He did not listen to my concerns. He seemed in a hurry to leave for lunch. He hastily asked me questions in medical terms about my knee surgery 40 years ago. I felt interrogated. He ordered a Rx drug which I decided not to take after reading the side effects. He or someone in his office ordered a knee brace which I picked up on February 23, 2018. At the reception desk and when I picked up the knee brace I was assured that my Medicare and Blue Cross insurance would cover the costs. Medicare and Blue Cross paid for the x-rays and office visit. Medicare paid their share of the cost of the knee brace but Blue Cross refused because the provider, of the knee brace, is "out of network." Now I'm in a battle with the arrogant billing manager about my $175.11 share that Blue Cross has not paid. Blue Cross has agreed to resubmit the paper work in hopes of covering the expense. So the promise that my insurance would cover the cost was a mistake by the doctor's office staff. Dr. Abdo may be a great medical doctor but he will never see me again. There are many orthopaedic doctors in the Tampa Bay area and if needed I will find another one.

Full ankle replacement and foot reconstruction including Achilles tendon and plantar fascia work. Dr. Abdo and his staff are top notch. My treatment was customized to my individual needs in a caring and understanding Manor. The surgery, treatment and PT afterwards has all been great. I highly recommend Orthopedic Specialties and Dr. Abdo to anyone considering replacement surgery and or orthopedic treatment.

My 1st appointment was indeed a 1 star visit, & I fully explained "why" right here. Now since then I want to admit that drs from various parts of the county all recommend Dr. Richard Abdo, all also tell me that my appt & Dr. Abdo's actions, responses, things said, are all shocking to them & it does not sound like him at all. Well Dr. Abdo this speaks volumes to me. I myself am going through many bad days, & to hear such, tells me that my visit may not have been a good day for you for whatever reason. I apologize for jumping to critique, to express my disappointment, as sir you come with high regards, & we ALL have bad moments. QUALITY means more than attitude, & what I hear is that you're one of the best. It was a poor visit, but please accept my apology. I'd recommend going to see Dr. Abdo as I've received numerous detailed info that does suggest this doctor is "that good". Many Blessings, I hope our next meeting is better for all, as yes, I would return.
