Dr Hess has completed 2 orthopedic surgeries for me. I drove from south of Sarasota to Tampa because he is the best hand wrist doctor I could find. I have some other complicating factors and because he is the head of orthopedics at the University of South Florida, a teaching hospital; Dr Hess takes the time to not only educate himself, but the surgical residents and fellows. He was able to stop a tendon from slipping over the top of the ulna. Then a couple years later, he removed an arthritis laden trapezium and ran a cable from the bottom of the thumb and anchored it into the scaphoid. Both surgeries are very successful and I now have functionality and minimal pain if any, day to day. His office and surgical staff were outstanding.

Upon meeting me for the FIRST time, provider asked me “what would you like to do about it?” He next announced to the hallway that I had not shown up for a 3 week follow-up appointment (with a different doctor) which had not been scheduled with me. I was then instructed to “go to therapy,” and even after asking follow up questions, I am still unsure where, when, or with whom this therapy will take place. Zero stars.

Dr. Hess and his entire office staff were very efficient and kind and caring. I didn't have to wait long to be seen upon arriving for my appointment. Dr. Hess and his associate Dr. Levine reviewed everything regarding my injury and all options for treatment. Their caring and compassion truly made me feel good I chose to be treated by Dr. Hess and his great staff at his office.

Dr. Hess was very nice and took the time to answer my questions. Check in did not seem friendly and spoke really fast. I guess to move me along. And so I did unsure of what she said. Thank goodness someone noticed my puzzled look as I was wandering around trying to figure out where she told me to go. The lady who helped was very nice too.
